What’s next for Fire Emblem Heroes?

It’s near the end of May already. So, what’s new with Fire Emblem Heroes? And what’s next? In March, Intelligent System introduced the compile manual. Now, we know how they exactly work. I’d say they are mediocre. It’s not really worth the effort trying to get them. Regular divine codes come at a very very low rate. It takes many months to complete a normal path. The path is not repeatable; it’s one and done. The limited compile manual is also not really appealing. IS decided to not give enough resource to get all of them. There are 2 heroes that cost 300 codes each and 5 heroes that cost 100 codes each. It requires 1,100 divine codes to get all of the limited compile manual. In March, IS only gave out 750 codes. So, we have to choose which heroes to get. By April, those heroes are gone and replaced with different heroes. In April, IS gave even less codes, only 650 codes. So, in April, I only get 2 heroes that cost 300 codes each. Now in May, so far IS only gave out 290 codes. Who knows if we’re going to have enough to get both of heroes that cost 300 codes. We’ll have to wait and see.

Fire Emblem Heroes as of March 2020

Fire Emblem Heroes game is still the most profitable mobile game for Nintendo so far, but the revenue is declining at a fast pace. Intelligent Systems is experimenting with the business model to help with the revenue. They were experimenting with the FEH pass subscriptions last month and they are trying to sell a “forma” unit at about $30 this month. I think they are trying really hard to increase their revenue by adding other stuff on top of their very profitable gacha game. In my opinion, if they are going to add a subscription and buying mechanism, they should get rid of their gacha mechanics. They have to choose either gacha or outright purchase. Don’t try to mix the 2. By mixing the gacha and purchase, it shows how greedy the company is.

Getting The Most Value Out of FEH Pass

With the FEH pass, you get two quests which give you a bunch of free things and two resplendent heroes.

These refresh on the 10th and 25th of each month (with the exception of the first month’s refresh period being different). This means that if you buy the FEH pass somewhere between the refresh periods, then you’re able to get three Resplendent Heroes and complete three quests-worth of content.

Basically, in order to get 1.5x value out of the FEH pass, you have to overlap your buying of it with the refresh period.

Nintendo confirmed that this was allowed. You can see that post here.

Feh Pass vs. Other subscriptions – Fire Emblem Heroes

Feh Pass has officially launched and from the looks of it, it’s going to be here to stay. On reddit, now, there are more people accepting the pass than opposing it. I’m actually not surprised on how it turned out on reddit. Based on any of the previous surveys, I know that at reddit, there are a lot more people who pay to play Fire Emblem Heroes game than the F2P. The latest survey on reddit indicated more than 2:1 ratio of paying customers than the non-paying customers.

Before we look at how Feh Pass compares to other subscriptions, let’s compare Feh Pass to other deals in the game itself.

New Subscription Announcement Ruin Fire Emblem Heroes 3rd Anniversary

Today marks the 3rd anniversary for the Fire Emblem Heroes mobile game. It’s supposed to be a celebration. Most companies typically aim to please the customers and fans of their games and make sure that there’s no backlash. It’s very unfortunate that Intelligent System never learned from their past mistakes and they make another mistake again this time around.

Take a look at Fire Emblem Heroes video on YouTube. There’re more than 2:1 dislike to like ratio. About 70% of viewer dislike the announcement of the 3rd celebration. Why is that? It’s all because of the announcement of the new subscription – FEH pass.

This announcement overshadows all other things that they announced. People are not talking about any gifts from the 3rd anniversary announcements, but complained about the upcoming FEH pass. If you look at Fire Emblem Heroes sub on reddit, you’ll know what I’m talking about. The subreddit exploded with anger, disappointment, etc. It’s all due to the FEH pass.
