Aether Raids Scoring

The updated Aether Raid’s scoring was a bit confusing since the information in the game is very sparse. Aether Raids is the only “no retry” mode in Fire Emblem Heroes. So, not that many people would do a “trial and error” in this mode. Now that the latest update to Aether Raids mode has been around for about 3 weeks, we know how exactly the scoring work in this game mode.

Scoring in the upper tier 21 or above is a bit different and only affect the scoring on offense. There’s no difference in scoring on defense.

Tier 21-28

2 mythic heroes + 1 bonus blessed heroes + 2 blessed heroes + (extra blessed hero) = 180 lift per single game

Requirement:
  • Mythic heroes that matches the season (i.e. light season, use light mythic heroes)
  • Correct blessing on each heroes (i.e light season, use light blessed heroes)
  • Or correct legendary heroes that matches the season (i.e water season, use water legendary heroes)
  • At least 1 bonus heroes with correct blessing in the team (can be mythic hero, normal hero or legendary hero)
  • Extra hero can only be added if you have the correct mythic hero that open up the 6th hero slot and only correct blessed/legendary hero can be added on the 6th slot
  • Win the game without any casualty
Note:
  • If your mythic heroes have any extra merges, then each merge count as an extra lift. For example: Peony+4 will add 4 lift per single game.
  • Extra merges on other heroes (non mythic) don’t increase score.
  • If you use 4 mythic heroes in a team, your lift per game is actually lower (Unless the 4th mythic hero is put on the 6th slot)
  • If you put your bonus hero in the 6th slot, your lift per game is also lower
  • If you don’t have the correct bonus mythic hero in the team, losing a hero cost 20 lift per hero in a single game (lose 2 means -40, lose 3 means -60, etc)
  • If you have the correct bonus mythic hero in the team, you can afford to lose 1 hero without any lift lost (lose 2 heroes = -20, 3 = -40, etc)

In the Vault of Heaven (Tier 31-39):

2 mythic heroes + 1 bonus blessed heroes + 2 blessed heroes + (extra blessed hero) = 190 lift per single game

Requirement:
  • Same as tier 21-28
Note:
  • Same as tier 21-28 except on lift lost.
  • If you don’t have the correct bonus mythic hero in the team, losing a hero cost 20 lift per hero and another 10 lift per single game (lose 2 means -50, lose 3 means -70, etc)
  • If you have the correct bonus mythic hero in the team, losing a hero cost 10 lift lost per single game (lose 2 means -30, lose 3 means -50, etc)

Now that we know how AR scoring works, what’s the best strategy in this game mode?

Getting to vault of heaven is easy:
  • We just need to reach tier 27 – or 2,400 lift in a season (less than that if you start from tier 23 after dropping from VOH)
  • We can sacrifice 1 hero per game as long as we use the correct hero (per the requirement above) and get perfect score
  • With 0 mythic merge, we can get 180 lift * 16 games = 2,880 lift in a season
  • Additional mythic merge will increase the lift by 16. So, if you have +10 mythic, it’ll be another +160 lift in a season
  • With correct bonus mythic hero (+0 merge) and correct blessed hero on defense , we can lose 40 lift * 7 games = -280 lift in a season
  • We have enough lift to go up to VOH easily
Staying in vault of heaven is not as easy as getting in, but definitely doable:
  • Need to reach tier 38 to stay – or 2,800 lift in a season
  • Even when we use the correct hero per the requirement above, we’ll still lose 10 lift per game if we sacrifice 1 hero. If we don’t have bonus mythic hero, we’ll lose more lift.
  • If we use the sacrifice a hero strategy, we will have 180 lift * 16 games = 2,880 lift in a season, leaving only 80 lift buffer on defense before dropping out of VOH
  • We need somewhat adequate defense so that we don’t lose 280 lift in a season, some perfect games and additional mythic merges.
  • Perfect games in a season, we’ll have 190 lift * 16 games = 3,040 lift in a season, giving us 240 lift buffer on defense. 3 mythic merges will add another 48 lift in a season, bring up the buffer to 288 lift. Which means, even if we lose all of our defense, as long as we play perfectly on offense, we can stay in VOH
Reaching the top tier 39 is pretty hard, but not impossible:

I did it on the last light season. I have Peony+4 and Mila+1, which means 5 extra lift per game or 80 extra lift in a season.
195 lift * 16 games = 3,120
I have Yune+1, which means 1 extra lift per game lost or -39 per game lost.
I lost -39, -39, -19, -19 = -116
At the end of season, my score was 18,000 + 3,120 – 116 = 21,004 lift.

Can F2P reach the top tier 39 without bonus mythic hero?

The answer is “Yes”, but you need at least 2 mythic heroes (for each seasons) and it’s a lot harder than with bonus mythic hero. I’m F2P and don’t have all the mythic heroes and I’ve reached tier 39 in Aether Raids Vault of Heaven game mode of Fire Emblem Heroes.
