The U.S. team Sentinels defeated the Brazilian team Loud 3-2 at the qualifiers of VCT. It was a very close match, however, TenZ from Sentinels stood out in the match, with a KDR of 84/72/48. That is huge, since TenZ is a flex player who tends to play every role on the team depending on the map. In this article we’ll be looking at why TenZ played so well in this match.
Analysis
Let’s look at his first game. He was the Match MVP, which was well deserved.
Looking at round 16, when Sentinels was up 9-6. This was a crucial round to win because winning this round would break Loud’s buy, and would force Loud to save next round resulting in another round won. In this round, TenZ is on the flank and is able to isolate 1v1’s easily because their is an box that covers him when cauazin of Loud tries to trade tuyz. TenZ’s mechanics are well rounded, his aim is good and he knew ahead of time someone would try and trade the teammate out. This exchange results in 3 kills for TenZ as he is able to isolate the third teammate trying to trade out saadhak.
Let’s look at another example, round 1 of Icebox. TenZ is set up by johnqt this round. Johnqt allows himself to be seen on site which causes Loud’s whole team to look that way to try and kill him. This allows TenZ to flash around the yellow box. This results in blinding 4 members of Loud allowing Tenz to kill 3 and johnqt 1. TenZ is able to play with his team members very well. Further proving why he played well during the match.
Even though they did not win on this map, TenZ still had huge impact.
Lastly, let’s look at the first round of the second half on Sunset. Sentinels are up 10-2 in this game. They decide to do an aggressive push down A main. TenZ being on a support role, flashes for his team which causes cauanzin to be blinded and his two other teammates with him to take cover leaving cauanzin to be isolated. Zekken dies in this exchange, however, Sentinels keep pushing forward and TenZ gets 3 kills leaving Sentinels in a really good spot to win this match.
TenZ overall had a really good performance during Sentinels match against Loud. It is a possibility that Sentinels may face Loud again at Madrid during Champions, we may get to see another opportunity where TenZ again destroys Loud.
