Fire Emblem Heroes As Of April 2022

Wow, it’s April already. Where did time go? It’s about 4 months now since Intelligent System added the pay only Spark feature to Fire Emblem Heroes. How did it do? Did it help increase FEH’s revenue? Or, will FEH follow Dragalia Lost’s footstep?

Let’s take a look at the latest FEH’s player’s pulse survey from Reddit.

Usually, there was more than 1K users participated in the survey. This time, only about 700 users participated.

How long since players play the game?

  • 46.4% played since beginning (Feb 2017)
  • 20.6% joined in the 1st year (2017)
  • 9.9% joined in the 2nd year (2018)
  • 8.3% joined in the 3rd year (2019)
  • 6.6% joined in the 4th year (2020)
  • 6.1% joined in the 5th year (2021)
  • 0.3% joined in the 6th year (2022)

As you can see, we have a loyal player base that play since the beginning and still playing. Number of new players has been decreasing steadily since then. Based on the trend, it is likely that new players this year will be below 6%.

How much money do players spend on FEH?

  • 24.4% spend $0 or F2P
  • 27.8% spend between $0.01 – $100
  • 18.7% spend between $100.01 – $499
  • 9.3% spend between $500 – $999
  • 8.9% spend between $1,000 – $5,000
  • 3.4% spend more than $5,000

F2P drop to below 25%, the lowest ever since the beginning. That means players succumb to the locking spark behind FEH pass feature. It really did play out as I expected.

Which FEH’s recent change that player dislike or disapprove?

More than 70% of the response disapprove locking spark behind FEH pass or Summoner Duels.

What about FEH’s bottom line?

Does FEH’s revenue go up? Here’s the latest revenue in 億 chart from Japanese company that estimate game revenue.

The initial locking spark behind FEH pass impact had died down. It looks like only a very short-term gain. Revenue is trending down again since the initial bump in January.

Closing Remarks

Since Nintendo announced recently that Dragalia Lost will be shut down soon, many players are wondering about the fate of Fire Emblem Heroes. Will FEH follow Dragalia Lost’s footstep? I think most people agree that FEH will not last forever and FEH will follow Dragalia Lost’s footstep in the future. But, what we don’t know is how far in the future? Will it be this year, next year, 2 years, 3 years or more?

FEH’s player base is small and the number of paying customer is not that many. However, these customers are hard-core-fans, loyal and willing to spend a lot of money to support FEH. Based on available data out there, I don’t think FEH will end it’s service this year. Unless, Intelligent Systems do something really bad that offend these hard-core-fans, I think Fire Emblem Heroes will last a few years more.
