So, you want to get rich quick. Well, we did too. I’ll share me and my brother’s story of how we went from having $58 million to having $215 million in the span of 3 days.
I’ll start off by telling you some small things we did to earn money. Then, I’ll reveal the huge strategy at the end of this post.
The story starts off on Sunday, July 5th. My brother wanted to buy and Ender Dragon pet in order to deal more damage in Dragon Fights. We decided that it would be best to wait until the prices dropped… which it didn’t.
Our Initial Strategy
Up till this point, our main money making method has been sitting in the end and farming zealots for eyes. We spent a lot of time doing this. I didn’t want to sell the eyes, so we agreed do dragons. We actually got decently lucky, and ended up turning a profit. The reason we profited was because we were able to place in the top 2, while placing 2 each time, and we were able to do a LOT of dragons. If you do a few, then you’re likely to lose money, since the only profitable drops at the time were Aspect of the Dragons, Dragon Pets, and any Superior Armors. Basically, your graph of money over time should be steadily increasing, with occasional huge spikes.
In case you want to see the sheet for yourself, HERE you go.
After doing dragons for quite a bit, we decided to stop with dragons because farming Zealots in the end was so boring. We did earn quite a bit of profit, though we spent a lot of money investing into a good sword, and buying a Legendary Golem pet for damage ($26m), and then resold for $12m, losing a ton of money in the process.
An Epic ender dragon pet at this time cost around somewhere around $160 million coins, meaning that we were only 1/3 of the way there. At the rate that we were earning money through Zealots, this was going to take forever.
We farmed so much that we have this many obsidian chestplates, and 2 double chests full of End Stone Bows. I also got a handful of the Epic and Rare Combat Exp Boost items while killing Watchers.
AFK Money Making
A few weeks ago, I really started getting into Bazaar flipping. The concept of Bazaar flipping was to buy some materials at a low price, then sell it at a higher price in order to make profit. It’s called “flip” because that’s what happens when you turn your buy order into a sell order. The Bazaar charges a 1% fee when selling items, meaning that when buying and selling items, the selling price and buying price must have at least a 1% gap in order to make money. For example, if we bought Enchanted Snow blocks for $620 and resold them for $622 on the Bazaar, we would actually be losing out on $4.2 coins per block.
I initially started out by flipping Enchanted Ender Pearls. Ever since the sack update came out, I noticed that players were too lazy to click the “empty” button from their sacks, and would rather choose to just sell instantly to the Bazaar. I saw this opportunity to make money and created buy orders for TONS of Enchanted Ender Pearls for between $180-190 coins. This was super profitable for me, since I was able to resell them for around $200, or in the worst case, slowly take them out of the Bazaar and sell them straight to the NPC for $200 coins each.
My Strategy
Here’s a quick list of the items that I Bazaar flipped:
Item | Buy Price From Bazaar | Sell Price to NPC |
Enchanted Ender Pearl | 190 | 200 |
Enchanted Snow Block | 590 | 600 |
Enchanted Pumpkin | 540 | 640 |
I mostly stuck with Ender Pearls, though I occasionally went to other things. At some point, I noticed that Enchanted Pumpkin prices were super low. I wasn’t really sure why they were so low, especially when you could sell it to the shops for a much better price. My guess is that there were probably a bunch of people using macros or some sort of hack in order to get money without actually playing the game. The reason they use the Bazaar is because clicking those buttons are consistent, but when your farming level increases, the number of crops you get each time changes, meaning that your program would have to adapt to however many crops you got. I took advantage of the super low prices and set up tons of buy orders and spent a lot of time reselling it to the NPCs.
The Spooky Festivals
We also recently discovered the Night Respawning Skeleton strategy from some YouTube videos. This would allow the person using the strategy to get tons and tons of candies from the Spooky Festival.
Thanks to BumbleTrixx’s video, I was able to score really high in the Spooky festival, earning around $5 million coins worth in candies. My trick-or-treat bag only had a few slots left in it. I did get a bit unlucky during that spooky festival, only ending up with just under 4 stacks of purples along with the rest of bag full of greens, while in BumbleTrixx’s video, he got over 5 stacks of purples and the rest of the bag full of greens.
This earned us so much more money than farming Zealots in the end during the Spooky Festival. When we did that, we would score around 1100 or 1200 points, earning us almost no rewards.
Taking Advantage of Mystical Mushroom Soup
Now, there’s a great collection called the Mushroom collection.
Almost no one has this unlocked, because it’s not very profitable… or so people thought.
In reality, this is a super profitable deal. You can basically buy all of the materials to make a Mystical Mushroom soup for about $10,000, and then resell it for about $30,000, earning about $20,000 per soup. Turns out, not many other people did this, and I held the Mystical Mushroom Soup market for a while. Basically, I put them up on the bin, instead of auctions, because I knew that flying was an essential part of the Skyblock experience.
However, not many people have this collection unlocked. So, I took advantage of it, and crafted up stacks upon stacks upon stacks of soup. I probably sold over 4 stacks of soup, one at a time, earning a ton of free profit. Other people started catching on, and we ended up in a “bid war” selling soups for 1 coin less than the other person so that our soup would be displayed closer to the top of the Auction House.
The Amazing Dupe Glitch
At one point during our Mystical Soup career, someone else discovered a dupe glitch involving the Bazaar. I’m not sure myself how it was done, neither did I participate in it. When I logged in, I discovered that the Bazaar was disabled. I knew I had to take advantage of this. I quickly checked up in the Auction House to see if my competitors were selling soup and I was shocked to see… that no one had Mystical Mushroom soup on the bin. Not one person was selling.
Yes! This was amazing. I had total control of the Mystical Mushroom soup market. Thanks to the people who discovered the dupe glitch, my competitors could no longer buy the materials needed to create soup. And so, I charged exorbitant prices for soup. Since I bought my materials in bulk using buy orders, I had a huge stockpile of Mystical soups. Remember, each one costs $10,000 to make, and now I could sell for whatever I wanted, because there was no one here to undercut me.
I started off casual with a $50,000 price tag to see if people would still buy it or not. To my surprise, people actually still bought them at about the same rate they were normally being bought for.
Then, I increased the price to $75,000, just testing the waters to see how high people would go. People still bought it.
I tried out $100,000, and people still bought it.
This was amazing
I went ridiculous and went up to $125,000, $150,000, and even $175,000. By this point, people were buying them really slowly, but people still bought them at this ridiculous price point. My brother and I continued this until my stockpile ran out, and by that point, other people caught onto my strategy and for some reason are selling them for $35,000 when they could be selling for so much higher. I guess people really just aren’t smart on the business side of things.
Dark Auction Flipping
I wanted to get Growth 6 and Protection 6 on my Superior Set. I was looking up the Auction House bin prices for those books and noted them just before I went into the Dark Auction. Usually, I could buy Growth 6 books for around $6.7m and then bin it for a much higher price.
I made some decent money here.
How We Made $150 Million In 1 Week
The reforge update brought around a huge change to damage. We bought a frozen scythe because my guild was talking about it being overpowered.
It allowed me to get way more damage than I usually do. So, I bought a Travel Scroll to the Dragon’s Nest and went golem hopping. Basically, I look for golems at tier 3 or 4, then farm 100 Zealots and do a lot of damage.
I was lucky enough to get a Tier Boost Core after farming 131 endstone protectors. My hands were shaking when I went to pick it up off the ground.
I got this on July 4th by the way.
After this, we didn’t do anything for the next few days. We were overjoyed that we earned a free $30,000,000 coins.
Dungeons day.
When Dungeons came out, I quickly ran over to my computer to try it out. Since I was MVP+, I was able to play it. My brother, SpartanRaph117, however, decided to check out the ice prices again. The developers patched the glitch where you quickly put on the Dark Goggles and switch to your normal helmet and it still thinks you’re wearing the Dark Goggles, but you still get your normal armor’s fulls set bonus. So, in theory, the Frozen Scythe prices should’ve gone down, right? It received a nerf, however, the price of it skyrocketed.
Additionally, for any good Mage in Dungeons, you need a Frozen Scythe, and not many people had the collection unlocked to craft it.
So, as we did with the Mystical soups, we bought the ice from the Bazaar using buy orders, and crafted Frozen Scythes for $18,000,000, and sold them for around $23,000,000 on bin. These sold out super quick, especially on the first day of dungeons. Other people were onto us almost immediately, as many others have discovered this trick as well.
As prices continued to rise, our profit margins decreased. It soon cost us almost $23,000,000 to purchase the materials to buy, and then we were able to sell it for $28,000,000. We basically earned about $4.5m in profits each time, if you include tax.
During this time, we barely played any Dungeons. As other guild members were talking about getting Recombobulator 3000s, or Bonzo’s Staffs, we were putting all of our efforts on buying ice and reselling frozen scythes.
Tip: In case you need to know the numbers, you need 10,240 Enchanted Ice to craft a frozen scythe.
Our strategy involved buying half of the ice in the Enchanted Ice form, and the other half in the Enchanted Packed Ice form, since it was quicker that way.
The first night of dungeons, the frozen scythe count in the Auction House decreased. Since the majority of the Hypixel players are from North America (including us), everyone should be sleeping during this time. However, we noticed that there were only 2 people selling Frozen Scythes on the Auction House. As with the soups, we were able to control the market since we were the only ones.
There were only 2 frozen scythes currently being sold on the Auction House, being sold for $30,000,000 each. So, the logical move to do as I’ve learned from Bazaar flipping, is to undercut them by $1. Other less-intelligent players will undercut them by $500,000, or even a few million, but as the smart player we are, in order to maximize profits, we would sell them $1 less than the lowest seller on the Auction House.
We stayed up all night flipping frozen scythes during the night, as that was the most profitable time. When it became morning and the profit prices dropped to around $1,000,000 per scythe, we went to bed and stopped.
We woke up again later during the day and continued flipping. We only earned about $3,000,000 per scythe, but this was so much faster and more fun than Zealot farming. The slowest part about this was actually the rate at which people sell enchanted packed ice, and also bidding wars in the Bazaar.
Basically, the way that insta-selling works is that insta-selling will sell it to the person who has the highest buy offer. However, only the top buy offer receives the insta-sell order. This means that if someone creates a buy offer for 0.1 more coins than you did, then they get the sell priority. So, what we have to do is keep “refreshing” our buy order in order to make us stay the top. As other people were in bidding wars to maintain their top order in ice, we also repeatedly increased the buy price by 0.1 all the time.
We repeated this, earning between 2m and 5m each flip, for multiple days in a row. Credits go to my brother SpartanRaph117 who actually did most of the flipping. I did a few flips, but he’s the one that earned the $150m.
Dragon Pet Time
We couldn’t even fit all the money we had in the bank. Our capacity was only $100,000,000. SpartanRaph117 decided to carry around like 5 piggy banks because he was so paranoid about people using a glitch to kill him carrying $50,000,000.
After having about $187m in the bank, we finally went to go bid on an Epic Ender Dragon pet. We were too lazy to level it up, so we went to go bid on a level 100 Epic Ender Dragon pet. We kept getting outbid, until finally, we won it at $215m coins.
Our bid was so high that we ended up #2 in the auction house at the time.
And that’s our story of how we bought the ender dragon pet. We saved ourselves $30,000,000 by getting the Tier Boost Core as a drop, but wasted about $40,000,000 getting a pre-leveled up pet.
Also, when we put on the tier boost, the level dropped to 96. Big sad, we actually have to level it up by getting about 3m exp.
