How to get Free Splashes – Hypixel Skyblock

Having potion effects are essential for speeding up your progress in Hypixel Skyblock. Whether your’re farming Zealots, Revenants, Tarantulas, or Svens, potions increase your movement speed, health, damage, and XP gain.

Here’s what a lot of potion effects look like:

Players in-game call these splashes “god splashes” since… well… we have a lot of potion effects.

In this article, I’ll show you the strategy which I use to find free splashes, along with providing information about how splashes work, and sharing common splashing locations.

Splash Information

These types of splashes usually include the following potions:

  • Strength VIII (8)
  • Archery IV (4)
  • Pet Luck IV (4)
  • Speed VIII (8)
  • Combat XP Boost III (3)
  • Adrenaline VIII (8)
  • Experience I*
  • Spirit IV (4)
  • Critical IV (4)
  • Agility IV (4)
  • Magic Find IV (4)
  • Rabbit VI (6)
  • Dodge IV (4)
  • True Resistance IV (4)

*Experience I should be infused with a Viking’s Tear.

These are the essential 14 potions usually provided by the splasher. Bonus potions sometimes included include:

  • Haste III (3)
  • Fishing XP Boost III (3)
  • Foraging XP Boost III (3)
  • Mining XP Boost III (3)
  • Alchemy XP Boost III (3)
  • Enchanting XP Boost III (3)
  • Invisibility I (1)
  • Absorbption VIII (8)

The Skyblock Community doesn’t like Haste because it messes with the attack rate of the player. Some players don’t want Magic Find because it interferes with some pet drops. Though, having Haste and Magic Find really don’t make that big of a difference to the average player.

Potions that are not usually splashed include:

  • Jump Boost
  • Water Breathing
  • Resistance
  • Night Vision
  • Regeneration
  • Healing
  • Fire Resistance

Potions that have negative effects on the player are:

  • Burning
  • Poison
  • Stun
  • Knockback
  • Wounded
  • Venomous
  • Blindness
  • Damage

How do Splashes make money?

Paid splashes.

Buying all the materials to brew potions costs a lot of money. Every potion needs its material, along with an Enchanted Redstone Block and an Enchanted Glowstone Block. They also require an Enchanted Gunpowder in order to turn them into splash potions.

Each splash costs roughly 1,500,000 coins to fund, if you buy the materials straight from the Bazaar.

Splashers will recruit players wanting from the main hubs, charging around 100,000 coins as an entry fee. After recruiting around 20-22 players, the splasher will look around for a hub to perform the splash. This earns the splasher around 500k coins for the splash, and a bit of fame if they let people “leach” the splash.

Once the splasher finds a suitable lobby, they will generally tell a location and ask everyone to follow them by clicking the “Follow” button in chat. The reason that the splasher can’t warp everyone in is because the party is too large to warp.

How to Get Free Splashes

Splashers, of course, want to be famous. So, when possible, splashers like to find empty “main hubs” to perform their splashes. Since Skyblock’s playerbase does not spend much time in the main hubs, a lot of the hubs that aren’t in the first row are “deserted” or aren’t near their capacity.

If the splasher decides to splash in one of the main Mega hubs instead of the mini hubs, they benefit the playerbase by giving free potion effects to everyone. After the splasher made sure that their patrons are in the hub, they generally disband the party and invite “leachers” using /g party in order to warp in their guild. Since the splasher usually does not want a bad reputation for not delivering their services, this is why they make sure all their patrons are in first.

Looking for the Splash

The hardest part in getting a free splash is to first find a hub that has a splash happening.

First, go to the Hub Selector NPC. He is just to the left of the main spawnpoint.

Then, you want to hover over all the hubs quickly, looking for ones with relatively few players. Most “normal” hubs have around 70 players. Just look around for hubs with “strange” numbers of players.

Note that hubs that say 0/0 players are restarting, and in a few moments will be empty. Hubs reset at the very end of day 31. You can find the day number the hubs are on in the F3 menu.

If you see any filling quickly, then quickly warp yourself in before it fills up. Hubs with 40-55 people are almost always filling quickly.

leeching-splashes-sirknightj

If you see full hubs surrounded by empty hubs, then a splash is likely happening there right now. In the above photo, all the hubs near 25 were empty (less than 20 players).

Once in, press tab to check the player roster. If it’s filling super quickly, then you know that there’s a splash happening. You can usually just look at the spawn and see where the players are rushing off to. Standing on the roofs of the shops in the hub usually grants a good vantage point.

Do note that you should take a look at the auction house. If there are a TON of people crowded around there, chances are that there is no splash happening.

This means that if you randomly walk into a full hub and there’s no one at the auction house or bazaar, then it’s very likely that there’s a splash happening somewhere in that lobby.

If your hub was already nearly-full when you joined, then you want to check these locations below, if you don’t see a huge rush of players.

Common Splashing Locations:

Here’s an overview of the spawn map and some common splashing locations, made by me. I got this screenshot by using Bat Armor and a grappling hook to get up this high.

Of course, not all splashes happen in these locations, but the majority of them happen here.

Once in, just wait for the splash. If you got in without paying, congratulations, you just “leached a splash” as other in-game players say.

G House Splash

Where is G House?

G House is the house with a giant flag on it, located immediately left of spawn.

An easy way to look for a G House splash is just to look down and left immediately after warping to the hub.

Ignore the Zealot/Eye counter. The one I’m using is glitched and doesn’t register when a Special Zealot spawns.

You’ll see a huge cluster of names where the splash should be happening. In the above photo, you can see a cluster of names in the center of the screen, next to the Horse’s front hooves.

Huge clusters of names almost always indicates a splash.

Enter the G House, then go down the stairs until you find a large room. Then, clump together with the rest of the players who paid for the splash. The splash commonly happens in the center of the room, though it occasionally happens in one of the back corners.

Sven Pond Splash

Where is the Sven Pond?

From spawn, head towards The Park and make a left just before passing Maddox the Slayer’s House.

At the Sven Pond, people like to stand in this corner.

Sven-pond-splash-sirknightj

In case you didn’t know, this pond is called the Sven Pond because a strategy for defeating the Tier 4 Sven Packmaster Slayer Boss is to use leads to bring the last few wolves to this pond. Once you slay the wolves, then the boss will spawn in the pond. The water is nice because it will slow down the Sven Packmaster and make it move very slowly.

Map Splash

Where is the map?

Right in front of spawn. Literally look slightly to the right of spawn and you should see it.

In a map splash, people like to stand in this corner.

Ignore the Zealot/Eye counter. The one I’m using is glitched and doesn’t register when a Special Zealot spawns.

Carpenter Splash

Since the Carpenter is next to G House, just look around for a clump of players. Sometimes, they’re in the the basement level of the carpenter, and sometimes, they’re on the ground level in the corner.

Other Splashing Locations

Of course, there are many other splashing locations.

Windmill

I’ve seen the windmill splash very rarely. Near the warp to the barn, there is a giant windmill. Inside, people like to cluster in one of the corners. You’ll see a huge clump of names, so it’s hard to miss.

Dungeons Entrance

I’ve only seen a dungeon’s entrance splash twice in my Skyblock career. You can get there by entering the coal mines. Both of these splashes happened behind the shopkeeper’s desks. Since the area is relatively small, you shouldn’t have any difficulties finding it, assuming there is a splash actually happening there.

Mushroom Desert

Some of the most obscure locations we’ve seen splashes is in the “House in the Mushroom Desert”. To get there, you would use a grappling hook and Aspect of the End over to the hub’s copy of the Mushroom Desert. It was in the one lone shack in the left front corner of the Mushroom Desert.

Secret Fairy Soul Behind the Fairy Soul Pond

Another obscure splashing location we’ve encountered was in one of the fairy soul locations. There’s a fairy soul down this ladder behind the fairy pond. Down there was where we had a splash.

On Top of G House

on-top-of-g-house-sirknightj

This splash happened on top of G House. I’ve learned to look up now to check if any splashes are happening there.

Ruins

In the abandoned castle Ruins, sometimes splashes are hosted on one of the pillars up there. Just look up and look for a large cluster of players.

Bank

I’ve seen a few splashes happen in the bank. People like to stand up on the window ledge. The bank is pretty small, so the huge clump of players will be hard to miss.

Behind the Dark Auction

If you run past the fairy pond, you can find the dark auction building. Sometimes splashes happen there, though all these locations are much less common than the common areas.

Conclusion

In short, to get a free splash, browse the hub list and look for strange numbers of players in lobbies. Then, look in the common areas and look around for other players gathering somewhere. Splashes don’t happen all the time, so be patient. You can also ask around for a guild that does hosts splashes, or even a guild that actively has their players browsing the hubs for free splashes.

Not all splashes happen in these common locations. Some players are fine with “leachers” and some aren’t. Splashes can happen pretty much anywhere, so keep an eye out for large clumps of players.
