Pokemon GO – Beldum Community Day

A few days ago, it was Beldum Community day.

I was roaming around the parking lot of our local Fred Meyer’s to catch a bunch of Beldum’s.

I got a lot of Beldum’s, despite only playing for around an hour of the community days.

Community days allow us to get lots of candies for a certain type of Pokemon. We get a special move for evolving within an hour of the community day.

Here’s my feedback on the Community days that I think would make them better:

  • I would like an option to auto-equip a certain Pokeball, so that when I want to catch Beldum’s, I can have my great balls and ultra balls selected. I use mainly great and ultra balls when catch any community day pokemon because I want to save my pinap candies, since they’re limited, so to save pinap candies, I spend my huge stockpile of ultra balls.
  • I would like an option to enable or disable certain animations, such as the feeding the pokemon pinap candies, or the catching animation where you have to stare at the ball wiggling. That slows down our catching rate, which in turn makes me catch less pokemon, as one may have de-spawned as I was catching another. At the very least, if instead of giving us an option, maybe tapping the screen during the animation will skip it, as most other games have a similar feature of tapping the screen to skip cutscenes.

Overall, community days are a great idea, and they give a bunch of players the opportunity to catch and earn enough candies for pokemon that they wouldn’t otherwise be able to catch on their own. Before this event, I only had roughly 50 Beldum candies, and after this event, I had over 400 (since I didn’t play for the entire duration of the event). I like community days, but I feel the timing could also be improved. The community days currently take place on Sunday around noon. I remember a while back, they took place on Saturday, which I felt was a much better time. I would prefer them to take place on Saturday, as that is the day I play games the most.
