Arena – Tier 20

It’s been a while since I last posted the arena update. I’ve reached tier 20 a few times now. This is the highest tier available in Fire Emblem Heroes. For many FEH players, tier 20 is one of the top goal to achieve. However, I find that reaching and staying in tier 20 is not worth the stress and emotion.

The rewards for getting/staying in tier 20 are almost the same as the rewards in tier 18 and 19. The difference is in feathers only (1,800 feathers for tier 18 and 2,000 feathers for tier 19 and 3,000 for tier 20). Difference of 1,200 feathers may sound a lot. However, they are miniscule and doesn’t make a whole lot of difference. We can’t even use the 1,200 extra feathers to upgrade a 3 stars hero to 4 stars. It requires 2,000 feathers to upgrade from 3 to 4 stars. It requires 10x more feathers to upgrade from 4 to 5 stars. The extra feathers reward is not worth the extra effort.

That’s one of the main reason I didn’t put too much effort in trying to get/stay in tier 20.

Many FEH players believe that tier 20 belongs to the whale (players that spend lots of money). For the longest time, it’s true. F2P (Free-to-play) players typically don’t have many duplicates top of the line heroes. However, that’s no longer the case now. Currently, many dedicated FEH F2P players are in tier 20 too. I don’t remember when it started. I think it was around the time when feathers become a bit easier to obtain.

It’s achievable to get to tier 20 without any merge.

This is the team I use:

arena_tier_20_teamFjorm: She’s F2P heroin. She can handle red mages. She’s a bit too slow (got doubled quite a bit)

Alfonse: He’s F2P hero. He’s too slow but can handle Hector. Drag back is useless on him. He needs better B skill.

Brave Lyn: She’s the free heroin I picked from “Choose Your Legend” event. She’s my top heroin. She takes care most of “The Enemy”

Azure (Axe): She’s there to take care of blue. I find that Wing of Mercy is useless. I don’t remember ever using it in arena. I use her for color coverage.
