Reunited at Last is the title of the third tempest trials. It started today and it’s going to last for 2 weeks until 8/24 midnight. We’re going to do a tempest trials review and discuss how good the new changes are.
I submitted feedback to the developer about what I think they should do in order to make this game mode more fun and less boring. It seems that they made some changes per my feedback, but I’m not too sure about that. It could be coincidence.
Score
I sent feedback asking them to change the scoring mechanism. In this trials, players will earn triple score on the first two games of the tempest trials per day. This change will reduce the number of games needed in order to obtain all of the reward. How much will it reduce?
Let’s do some math.
Best case scenario
Assuming the best case scenario where you have the 40% bonus hero and you can complete each trials to perfection and fast.
Maximum triple score: 40 * 7 * 1.5 * 1.2 * 1.4 * 3 = 2,116.8, but it’s rounded down to 2,116.
Maximum regular score: 705
Minimum games played to obtain all rewards: 86 (previously 142)
So, you’ll need to play about 6-7 trials per day. Previously, it was 10-11 trials. This is an improvement, but it’s still a lot of trials to play.
My scenario
Unfortunately I am still unable to summon any of the 40% bonus heroes. So I have to use Berkut as my 20% bonus hero. I can complete about 80% of the trials to perfection (I sometimes make mistakes as I try to play fast).
Maximum triple score: 40 * 7 * 1.5 * 1.2 * 1.2 * 3 = 1,814
Maximum regular score: 604
Minimum games played to obtain all rewards: 112
So, I’ll need to play at least 8 trials per day.
Assuming that it takes me about 14 minutes per trial, I am going to need to play the trials about 2 hours per day. That is still a lot of time.
Though the scoring change is not as big as I suggested, we are moving into the right direction. Hopefully I am not burning out.
Difficulty
It seems that the difficulty has been decreased again.
- On normal difficulty, stages with low-level enemies have been added
- Bonus heroes get HP+10 and Atk/Spd/Def/Res +4
It makes completing the trials less stressful as now the gap between our hero stats and inflated enemy stats closer.
Growth
Bonus hero will get double SP and Exp. This will help us to grow our hero quicker.
Rewards
It looks like there are more rewards:
- Clive – 4 stars and 5 stars
- Breath of Life 1 seal
- Atk Ploy 1 seal
- Hardy Bearing 1 seal
- More orbs, shards, feathers
Score requirement increments is a bit better at 2,500 rather than 10,000 previously.
Final Thoughts
It seems tempest trials game mode is moving in the right direction. The changes are minimal, but are welcome. They could improve it more by reducing the required games played to obtain all rewards even more and making the reward more appealing. I like to see number of required games played (for obtain all rewards) to be about 3-4 for the best case scenario. This is a phone game after all. Phone battery doesn’t last that long especially when playing this game. 2 hours per day is a bit too much.
I wish I can summon the hero I want. I’ve used up lots of orbs (60+) and still cannot get any of the new heroes. 🙁
